Will it work on my Mac?

Permission
Screen & System Audio Recording — used to read outgoing system audio, not the microphone
Format

Installing takes a minute

  1. 1Open the downloaded .dmg.
  2. 2Drag Volume Shield.app onto the Applications shortcut.
  3. 3Launch Volume Shield from Applications — it appears in the menu bar.
  4. 4When macOS asks, approve Screen & System Audio Recording for Volume Shield.
  5. 5This permission lets the app read the sound your Mac sends to headphones so it can estimate listening level. It does not use your microphone, and raw audio is not saved or sent anywhere.

Trouble installing or a question first? See the support page. Volume Shield provides estimates for personal awareness and is not a medical device or hearing test.
