The plain-English rules

These are the terms and important notices that apply while you use or purchase Volume Shield.

1. What you are getting

Volume Shield 1.0.1 is the first public release. Features and behavior may evolve over time, and the software may contain defects. Do not rely on it as your only safeguard against unsafe listening.

2. Guidance, not a medical measurement

Volume Shield produces engineering estimates of listening exposure from system audio, output level, and headphone profiles. It is not a medical device, hearing test, diagnosis, or certified sound-level meter, and it does not guarantee that any listening pattern is safe. Consult a qualified professional about your hearing.

3. How purchase and activation work

The Founders Edition is a one-time purchase for lifetime access on one Mac. There is no trial and no subscription to cancel. Payment processing, order records, and license-key delivery are handled by Lemon Squeezy. Volume Shield does not grant access based only on a browser redirect; the app verifies the license with Lemon Squeezy before enabling licensed use.

4. 14-day refund policy

If Volume Shield is not right for you, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase through our self-service refund page. Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Lemon Squeezy.

5. What remains your call

You are responsible for your own listening levels and for how you use the app's warnings and optional volume-reduction features. Individual susceptibility to noise varies, and real acoustic output at the ear depends on factors the software cannot fully observe.

6. No warranty; limits of liability

The software is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To that same extent, the makers of Volume Shield are not liable for damages arising from its use.

7. If these terms change

These notices may be updated as the product develops. Material changes will be reflected here.
