Terms & important notices

A plain-language summary of the terms that apply while Volume Shield is in beta.

1. Beta software

Volume Shield 0.9.1-beta.1 is pre-release software provided for evaluation. It may contain defects, change without notice, and is offered without any warranty. Do not rely on it as your only safeguard against unsafe listening.

2. Estimates, not measurements

Volume Shield produces engineering estimates of listening exposure from system audio, output level, and headphone profiles. It is not a medical device, hearing test, diagnosis, or certified sound-level meter, and it does not guarantee that any listening pattern is safe. Consult a qualified professional about your hearing.

3. Your responsibility

You are responsible for your own listening levels and for how you use the app's warnings and optional volume-reduction features. Individual susceptibility to noise varies, and real acoustic output at the ear depends on factors the software cannot fully observe.

4. No warranty; limitation of liability

The software is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To that same extent, the makers of Volume Shield are not liable for damages arising from its use.

5. Changes

These notices may be updated as the product develops. Material changes will be reflected here.

The governing legal entity, contact address, and applicable jurisdiction will be added here before Volume Shield is offered as a commercial product. This summary does not itself create a binding agreement beyond the notices above.
